Hi all,

I detailed in a previous post that I was having some problems with Ford Galaxy 2.8l 4x4 Auto 1997. When the auto box was cold it was banging on changing from 1st to 2nd. Furthermore on step hills it was slipping.

I have had it to 4 transmissions specialists and all say it needed a rebuild - although, ECU registered no faults. Could be clutch packs, crack in piston in block. Various ideas. Most said the ECU seemed okay - but change it anyway.

I had the oil checked etc. It has done 137000 miles.

So I bought some Lucas Stop Leak for Auto Transmissions from E-blag. a few friends had said try it. I was only going to lose

It could be that your transmission fluid was low in the first place which can give the symptoms you have. Topping it up resolved the problem maybe?

The transmission fluid level has to be checked when the fluid is at a certain temperature so is best left to the "experts".
